Melody King
A downloadable project for Windows and macOS
A narrative turn-based RPG about music, nightmares, and the people who drag you back from both.
Melody King follows Nate and his bandmates through a nightmare-soaked run at making it as musicians. Explore hand-built locations, build a crew of collaborators and rivals, fight the demons waiting on the other side of sleep, and find out how far a dream can carry you before it starts carrying you somewhere you don't want to go.
This demo is a playable vertical slice — the full prologue, eight story chapters, the pier finale, the endless endgame, and New Game+ / New Game++.
What's in the demo
- Full prologue & tutorial — the "Soundcheck" rehearsal room
- 8 story chapters (Episodes 4 – 11), played through the futon dream-gate
- The Pier finale + ending sequence + post-game endgame nights
- New Game+ and New Game++ with per-character POV (Nate / Blaize / Tristen)
- 10 explorable areas — Fairhope, Picayune, The Deo, The Woods, Blaize's, Nate's Studio, Earl's, The Pier, the Tutorial Room, and a Sandbox

- 44 achievements and lifetime stats that survive a New Game
- 49 enemy types, 16 Solomon's demons, 14 members, 228 items
- A full Settings menu — audio, difficulty, controls, window mode, resolution, aspect ratio
---
Combat
Turn-based, speed-ordered, and fully informed — the turn order is shown *before* you commit to an action, so picking a skill is a decision, not a guess.
- Attack / Skills / Defend / Item / Run — bosses cannot be fled
- Defend is a real action: halves incoming damage and refunds stamina
- 16 status effects with real durations — poison, burn, bleed, guard, thorns, haste, stun, blind…
- Party combat with stances, revives, and floating damage numbers, crit flashes, and screen shake
Progression
- A skill tree gates every skill behind your level
- Equipment across six slots with a live stat-delta preview before you commit
- XP is banked and converted at Nate's computer — levelling is a deliberate act
- Tiered loot shown as a stars badge, with rarity-weighted drops
- New Game+ gear sets awarded at 200 and 300 endgame waves
World
- Safe houses, spawn-point doors, chests, and save points
- World map fast travel between every discovered area
- Roaming overworld encounters with difficulty-weighted spawn tables
- Bestiary, quest log, achievements, and stats screens

About the engine
Melody King runs on Eidolon's Reverie, an in-house engine built on Godot 4.7. Every system (dialogue, combat, quests, shops, saves) is data-driven, which is why the same codebase is built to spin up visual novels, dungeon crawlers, life-sims, sandboxes, tactics games, and RPGs. This demo is also a proof of concept: that the engine can ship more than one kind of game.
